difference between octagon and bull
« on: January 30, 2003, 08:04:21 AM »
Could some one explain to me if there is a big difference between an octagon barrel and a bull barrel. I know one has a thicker barrel, but what I was wondering is are the just as accurate cal. for cal. ? I was thinking for hunting with a 10 inch octagon barrel it is a lot lighter than a bull barrel. What do you all think.

 I have both types of barrels 7 the only difference I see is the OCT. gets hotter faster if you are shooting target. The bull gets hot but dosent through the shot as fast. As for hunting I like both & like you said the OCT. is a little lighter but after you scope it its hard for me to tell the difference

you need  a special forend for the octagon barrel
if you have a heavy kicker you may want the extra weight of the bull barrle
