It's funny how the large intellects try to justify the new cartridges that come out.
They say what are they good for or what will they do that existing cartridges won't do?
Well the point is missed by a wide margin.  We get what we want.  If we all only got what we actually  needed we would have a lot less than we have.
The point is to have fun in this day of bad news, war and all the other crap we hear of.
If one would have fun shooting the 460 S&W or anything else with the 460 S&W have at it.
It's your money not anyone elses so go for it.

What is a S&W 460?  After reading about it here the other night, I went to the S&W web site and didn't see any mention of it.  From the comments here it sounds like a "stretch" 454.

The .600 S&W Mag is coming out next year.  It will be on a new Y Frame.

Heres one thing that the 460 S&W might do for us,  and that is drive down the costs of the 454 Casull ammo and arms.  You know there are people out there the have't to have the most powerful thing in town, and they may jump all over the 460S&W.   ....its the supply and demand thing.

less demand for the 454=greater supply=lower price

Just one way to look at it.

I don't see one of these in my collection anytime soon.  What my 44 mags won't get done one of my .454's will.  If I still need more gun then I will have to get out either my 375JDJ, 350MAG or a S/W500.  I can see the S/W500, BUT that .460 is a "tweener" between the .454 & the .500..  There will be a bunch of guys buying them, just don't see it in this house.

Truthfully, I don't see one coming through my door either----the FA .454 will get more velocity if a 200 gr bullet is used -----the 260 gr FA bullet will go over 2000 fps which is plenty fast---but I'm going to go heavier and slower----looking for 1400-1500fps with 360 gr hard cast lead. pg

Myself I  cannot see anything bigger than the good old 44mag. Its abeen around for years and has accounted for countless number of game taken by the handgun. Loaded with the right bullet and powder it will do the job on just about everything. I will keep my 29 smith and hunt with it for ever or untill I buy the farm.  coldmold

It's funny: What goes around comes around.  Can we say .460 "Express"?  (But this time in pistols.)
