First shotgun I ever bought shortly after becoming old enough to buy my own guns was an 870 Wingmaster 12 ga. That was a whole lotta years ago. While I don't have that one any longer I've owned a passle of them and have pretty much always had one every since. Got one now. Prolly always will have one or more.

I've owned them in 12, 20, and 28 ga. and .410 bore. I've used them for skeet, trap, sporting clays, informal money games, hunting and just all round fun shooting. The first round of registered skeet I ever fired was with an 870. Broke 92 of 100 that day with that pump gun. Used a 28 ga for several years in competition skeet matches for 28 and 20 ga and at times even for 12 ga competition. Shot the sucker better than I ever have any 20 ga and at most was only one target per 100 behind my 12 ga scores.

No better one gun shotgun battery exists.

Thanks for the feed-back GB. The 870 was an early CHRISTmas present from me ( Dad ). I agree that the 870 is the best pump-gun made. The express is not quite as smooth or as pretty as grandpas wing-master. They seem to be pretty well made for the price. Do they hold up pretty well over time?  The boy is a natural born shooter, the first time he ever shot clay birds he shot 17 out of 20 with my old Stevens 20 Guage. I'm afraid he's gonna out-shoot old Dad with the 870 :?
   BTW, I shoot an Ithaca

Speaking of Christmas presents. That reminds me. I got an 870 Express youth gun in 20 ga. for my oldest son's stepson for Christmas. Nearly forgot about that. It's around here somewhere. Reckon we need to get it wrapped up pretty soon. Yeah I sorta like those 870s. You'll never wear one out.

Don't worry, if you're like most of us, it won't be long until there are other companion pieces to keep it company. :-)
