Christmas morning and Dads First Deer
« on: December 25, 2004, 04:24:34 AM »
Christmas morning 7:40 Dad at age 69 bagged his first ever Whitetail. I was sitting right beside him in the blind which made the whole experience that much better.
The NEF sb2 .30-30 and the 180 grain soft led-tip .310 cast bullets from leftoverdj went in the front part of the left shoulder and exited the mid point of the deers right side chest. It wasn't the best angle (quartering to) but the 70 yard shot did the job, and the small button buck expired within 60 yards. Not bad for cast bullets. Thanks Emmett

Vance,

Your experiences with DJ's cast boolits is beginning to make me want to do a little more with cast.  Maybe they would put a big smile on my face, like your dad has!

Well done to all of you!  :D

I'm happy for both of you.    That's a memory that will last.     Hope there's more where that one came from for both of you.

Merry Christmas,

Good show for CHRISTmas norning. Many older people don't know what they are missing by not hunting, and having the son along is extra special.
A very happy CHRISTmas indeed.

I remember indroducing my son to upland bird hunting specially pheasants after he became very good at skeet.

The dog put up five roosters out of a small brushy patch, my son was using a 20 Rem Auto.  and I was usinin 20 O/U

We fired five shots and toke the five roosters, my son making his first triple. I never forget it.

Way to go guys.  By the way what happened to the forearm of that 30-30? That's the shortest forearm I've ever seen on a Handi.

I docked the fore-end 1 inch ahead of the lug. That tightened up the groups some.

Thank Chuck for doing my test shooting for me. That's about perfect placement from that angle.
