How good are these scopes compared to some of the more expensive handgun scopes?

Simmons handgun scopes?

It depends.  The 2x7 that I have wase recommended by SSK several years ago for their handcannons, and it has performed great on several handguns.  It's field of view and optics are not the best compared to Leupold or Burris, but it is plenty robust.  Friends with some of the 2x and 4x scopes found that they were junk.

I find this page to be very helpful, although it may not be what you want to hear.

My experience with Simmons scopes hasnt been good, I havent tried any of there handgun scopes, but I have used a couple of their rifle scopes though.
In my opinion, if your thinking of putting a scope on a handgun with any amount of recoil then save yourself some trouble and stick with the better quality scopes like Leopuld, or Buris.  A Simons would probably be ok on a 22 or something like that.

Just my opinion here:

For the money, I think the Bushnell Trophy handgun scopes are hard to beat. I have used them an some heavy recoil pistols and never a problem.

To give you an idea:

T/C Encore pistol in 25/06, 270, 308, and 30/06. Also have one on a Ruger SRH in 44 Mag.

They run about $30 more than a Simmons.

I have several Simmons scopes, both rifle and handgun. I have a 2x7 on a 7x30 T/C now and it seems to be holding up fine.It isn't the best scope around but for the money it hurts a lot less to replace one of these than it does a Leupold! 'Course I haven't needed to replace either YET(knockon wood)

I have had a 2-7x28 on my 358 JDJ for about 10 years now...great scope....not as clear as the high end scopes, but its decent. Dont know about the new 2-6 the put out....have heard mixed results on it.
