Any one know who to contact at winchester about quality control? I bought a mod 94 Trails end with a full octagon barrel in 357mag it has a metal but plate that the toe was filed down so sharp it cut a hole in my shirt the first time I shouldered the rifle some one in quality control needs to wake up I don’t like buying a new rifle and have to take it to a gunsmith and spend more money on the gun.

Look at their web site and get the number.  Before sending it to a smith, I'd call them.  They'll probably send you a new buttplate.

I'm new to this form, but I could not keep from putting my 2 cents in about windchester quality control. I purchased a winchester about 8 weeks ago in 357 mag. and the first time out I found if I loaded one shell into the tube it slid back so far I could not see the the head of the case.
Returned it to the gun shop, the owner said we could have a gunsmith fix it or return it wincherster. I sent it to winchester (as it is a new gun), it has been about 8 weeks and countless phone calls, and thay still have the gun.
I think from now on I will have a gunsmith fix the problems and stand the cost myself.

I had three major problems with Winchester's.

One was an older model 94 in 30-30 Win. it wouldn't shoot worth a damn. I traded it in and bought a Marlin model 336CS in 35 Rem. and haven't looked back!

My dad bought me a brand new Winchester model 120 Ranger 20 gauge pump shotgun. Every time I pumped the action to re-chamber a round it would not only eject the spent round it would also eject the spring that ejected the spent round too! I got sick of having this fixed so I traded it in and bought a Remington 870 Express and I haven't looked back with this either!

I wanted a rifle in 444 Marlin. I wasn't sure which one I wanted to get. The Marlin with a 22 inch barrel, the Marlin with a 18 1/2 inch barrel or the Winchester with a 20 inch barrel. So I went with the Winchester. It split the difference between the other two. It was the biggest piece of sh*t rifle I have ever owned. Every time I cocked the action it would jam half way open. Winchester didn't want to know anything about it because I owned it over a year before I shoot it. I traded it and got the Marlin with a 22 inch barrel and guess what...........I haven't looked back!

I do have a pre '64 (made in 1962) Winchester model 88 lever action in 308 Win. that my father gave me.  It is as good a rifle you can own. It shoots one inch groups at 100 yards and is super reliable, I've never had any kind of trouble with this rifle. I have also shoot two deer with it!

I won't even consider a "new" Winchester firearm now. Not a rifle, not a shotgun! I've bought or had them bought for me three different Winchester's and had trouble with all three, its not like I've had ten of them and had trouble with three! I want a 300 WSM. I'm waiting to see if Remington is going to chamber this in their model 700 this year. Or maybe I'll get a Ruger!
