Benelli Nova
« on: December 27, 2004, 08:40:35 AM »
Well I just bought a Benelli Nova and love everything but the trigger.  I purchased a 26" version with 3-1/2 inch chamber with Advantage Timber camo, can't wait for turkey season.

Took the trigger assembly out to look at and play'd around with all the moving parts.  (didn't take anything else apart just wanted to see how it all worked)  Is there a way to lighten the trigger pull?  Looks like the mechanism that holds the striker from releasing to engage the firing pin is the problem.  The spring seems quite stout.  Can a gunsmith change out the spring(s) to lighten the load or am I stuck with what I've got?

I just bought a Nova also. Went duck hunting two weeks ago and something grabbed my ankle and I ended up in the marsh with my Browning Citori totally submerged. Bought the Nova for my waterfowl gun. I won't ever submerge my Citori again.
Hunting and fishing are not matters of life or death. They are much more important than that.

Bought the Nova to tide me over until I saved up enough coins for a Super Black Eagle II.  Needed 3 1/2" for waterfowl this year, and my 1100 with 2 3/4" wasn't cutting it.

Anyways, I love the way you can very easily take out and clean the trigger mechanism, and bolt assembly.  Now if it ever takes a dive, I can easily clean it, and ensure all is cleaned out, no problems.

As far as I am concerned, the Nova is one of the thought out pump designs out there, too bad the forearm feels so "plastic like"
