Is this the work of a coyote

I had one of my live traps set under the rocks, there is an over hang about 5 foot high and 10 yards deep, great for catching coons  . I had my trap set with tuna fish. When I went to check my trap I discovered I had caught a opossum. But instead of it being in the trap it was lying about 30 yards away with several bite marks on it. The trap had been turned over so that the door would open. I found allot of over sized dog tracks that circled the trap(these traps are as large and some larger than my coon hounds). Do you think this was the work of a coyote or another animal? :? There is either a coyote or fox din(can't tell witch cause it is under a rock so there is no mud to see tracks in) close by were I set my trap.
DEER SEASON IS OVER, BUT THERE IS STILL RABBIT, SQUIRREL AND SPRING GOBBLER.  :biggun:

If there were tracks there larger than thoese of a hound it was not a coyote. It was a big dog. Besides a dog is the only animal I can think of that would be dumb enough to bother with a possum.
