:D, welcome aboard presdme, wish I could help but I have had Red Dots on both my Tracker II 12 gauge and my 24" smoothbore 12 gauge. I have a shotgun scope for one of them but have not fired them with the scope yet. I am sure others here have some opinions and will be glad to share them with you....<><....

I just picked up a VERY nice scope for my slug gun.  Judging by my Handirifle it goods like it will be a good fit for the Tracker also.  It's a little more than $100.00 BUT this is a VERY high quality scope.  I know 2 guys that paid close to $300.00 for their's and haven't been disappointed.  They will take the pounding that a slug gun dishes out. Which is a tough task for a lesser piece of glass.  Take a look.  WDO

Squid, I have had a simmons Prodaimond on my turkey gun.  That 3.5"  cannon really did a # on that scope. You could shake it and hear stuff rattleing inside.  I sent it back to Simmons and they repaired it.  It took over 4 weeks to get it back and I had to pay to ship it there and another $10.00 for shipping and handling.  And it was under warranty.  I just got another Simmons that had some issues right out of the box.  I took it back and started my search for something different.  I know lots of guys like the Simmons scopes, but all this  just left a bad taste in my mouth. This is where I ended up.....

Well, I'm gonna probably catch some flak for this.....

I have a Bushnell Sportview 3-9x40  rifle scope on my 980 Ultra......

3 seasons, no problems.......

I know that the recoil will probably catch up to it one day, and when it does.......I'll look for something different.

Until then, it's working great, and cost me all of $50.00

Bushnell Trophy 1.75-4x32...Just a little under $100.  Usually $80-$100...I liked the first one I bought for my Ultra Slugger so much that I purchased a second one for my 870.

Your H&R will work wonders for you with almost any scope.  I recommend using a vice and shooting in almost zero wind conditions when you begin sighting in your gun. I use a leopold 2X7 matte on my H&R 12 and it works awesome at 150 yards.  It's a 200 yard gun with a range finder and a nice rest.  I get a 9 inch drop at 200 with Federal Barnes (1900 fps)

consdider any quality scope that has the following:

1) minimum 3.5" eye relief to prevent "scope eye"

2) Wide FOV, I like the 1-4 power range scopes, as they have the widest FOV for shooting at very close range at 1x power. Higher powered scopes will show you nuthin but brown fur at close range, making quick shot placement difficult.

3) Shotgun/Blackpowder type parallax setting--50yds--the typical rifle scope is set up parallax free at 100yds, which means sighting in at closer range (you typically want to sight these in at around 50yds to avoid "windage" errors from wind drift at longer ranges) can get frustrating, as the crosshairs may "dance" on the target.

My personal favorite is the Bushnell Elite 3200 1.5-4.5x32 with firefly reticle, although its a bit above your price range at between $150-$180. Its well worth it, as it is durable, and has the rainguard lens coating which really does work. It also has extremely good light gathering ability. I am typically able to see clearly well before and after legal hunting hours, when only shadows can be seen with the naked eye.
