Handi 22-250

Hey guys New Poster here

Bought a Handi yesterday in 22-250. I am noticing some movement after the action is snapped shut.  Up  + down    Not much   Is this a normal thing with this rifle ?

Gonna take her back to the range tomorrow.  Shooting handloads  about  1" or smaller.  started at 50 yards.

Payed 80 bucks for her, already topped with a 3x9 scope and a case

Welcome to GBO, Casefiller!  You either have an improperly fitted barrel or the frame is not an SB2 high pressure frame. Either way, I wouldn't shoot it at all until the looseness is fixed. If the inside of the frame in the barrel pivot area has a cast appearance, it's more than likely an SB1 shotgun frame, but that's not a definitive way to tell. The best way is to call or email H&R with the serial number of the frame, they will tell you what barrels can be safely fitted/used on that frame. If they tell you only shotgun barrels can be fitted or the frame is too old for them to fit barrels, you may need to seek a gunsmith's advice. Good luck!
