ruger mkII VQ accurizing kit?
« on: August 03, 2006, 08:18:29 AM »
kit has target trigger, target hammer, sear, & trigger rebound spring. Cataloge says it will work with mkII's and .22/45 pistols only, but is an old cataloge. Will thease parts fit in a mark 3? Or are there internal differences bettween the 2's and 3's? Thanks. And any experience installing thease? Do they work well?

I love mine. Best thing I ever bought for my mk.II. Now has a 2lb 5oz trigger pull. Its a different gun now. Included instructions were excellent and easy to follow. I would get a larger schematic from the Ruger site in the manual area to see spring and part orientations if unfamiliar with stripping the pistol past basic field stripping.

VQ mk.III kit on VQ site at https://www.volquartsen.com/vc//pages/public/ListItems.jsp?id=19

midwayusa had a special this month on mk.II kit for $79 if I remember correctly. Not sure about the mk.III.

Gallahad:

Yes...the Volquartsen accurizing kits really work.  They're easy to install if you're the least bit handy with small tools...and the results make for a dramatic improvement.  If you can thrown down the bucks for this upgrade...go for it.  You won't be disappointed.

These guys have pretty good prices and service

http://www.rimfiresports.com/merchant.mv

Also, a better how to see

http://www.guntalk-online.com/detailstrip.htm, it's for the MK III, but, except for the magazine release, it's pretty much the same.

Did a MKIII accurizing kit on my Mark III and really liked what it did for the trigger.  Didn't like the extended bolt release, so it's off ot Zen and the art of Ruger breakdown.

It appears the Mk.III kit is the normal price. URL http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=319266

Why not get it straight from VQ. Great sales and service. Or search the net for a better price.

MG66 - Thank you for the come back, I clicked on the above site.  I noticed that is the discription it advises that GUMSMITH should fit kit.  You have installed this kit.  Is it a drop in or does a person have to take it to the gun smith??????

Its a drop in for the Mk.II and I assume also for the Mk.III. Detailed stripping is required. The instructions are very good for disassembly and reassembly. It may help to print a bigger exploded view to help as the drawing supplied is a smaller version of the one in the manual. The time required, depending on skill level is 15-60 minutes. Read all instructions carefully before attempting disassembly as springloaded parts can fly or be dropped, especially the spring loaded safety detent and the trigger return plunger and spring.

EDIT : It also gives you a great opportunity to give the gun a good cleaning :)
