I bought a STAR SxS back a few months ago thinking that it would be a great "project" gun. Had a small crack on the side, back where the receiver comes in contact with the stock. Also was in need of some smoothing and tuning. Noww, what with the semi-crushed foot and shoulder surgery I don't see myself be able to work on it. Turns out that "a man has to know his limitations"
And got to see a pardette shot her Coyote Cap model 99--comes all dude-ed up right out of the box. 'Course I had to have one of those and it came in this past week--super nice, worth the wait.
Now I have a 97, a 87 on the way (if it ever gets here) and 2(!) SxS's, so even though it's against my better judgement I'm going to see if there is a new member of our CAS club that needs/wants this for a good price. Heck, could be an old member for all I care. I'll let them know up front about the crack and there is a buggered screw head on the lever; very stiff springs and all. Don't want someone going in this with their eyes closed--not the cowboy way by any means. But I figure if someone knows what they're doing this will make a nice CAS shotgun after it's worked on.
Think I'd better fold my tents (while I still have them).
Every so often I do something like this to remind myself that life has it's ups and down's....
