Welcome Blacksmith, There are some people building custom rigs out of handies but the only company that makes them is H&R NEF, Look around or do some searches here, I believe Fred M made a .257 but I've been wrong before. 8)

I am in the process of building a 257 Roberts. At present the barrel has been turned into an octagon one. I started with a 223 Ultra Varmint bull barrel 24" long. This will completely remove the the old chamber and bore.
Should have the barrel back by the end of January.

The new bore will be 24" long with a 1-10" twist  In order to do the rebore job the barrel stud had to be removed and a new one made. The new stud will be attached to the barrel with two 8-32 screws and bonded with
 J-B Weld.

Besides the action got a complete blue printing job including the trigger.
The laminated butt stock is also being remodeled and made lighter. The recoil pad will be replaced with a radiused checkered hard rubber butt plate with a white liner. The pistol grip gets a rose wood cap with a white liner.

I am not yet sure about a scope, but I think a 3-9 Kahles will get the first try. I will remove the Weaver rail and will install two invidual scope blocks with a set of light weight rings

When it is all finished it should be a pretty Handi, Will it shoot, I am pretty sure it will stay under one inch. There is still a lot of work to do and I wont finish with it until May. Too many projects and not enough time. I don't know what I do if I had a regular job.
