.22 Hornet Accuracy
« on: January 12, 2005, 03:15:46 PM »
I have heard that the .22 Hornet is most accurate when reloading.  Do any of you own a .22 Hornet NEF/H&R that use factory ammo, and is your rifle accurate?  What type of ammo do you use?  Thanks in advance!

I don't have the 22Hornet but from reading the things that have been posted about them you either swear by them or you swear at them. A few have tried everything and couldn't get them to group very well. :D

I'm getting started on this project in the near future, have dies & barrel coming need to get some brass & bullets. It is for my son my 223 bull is alittle too heavy for him to carry & he wants a scope like Daddy
At $25 a box for remington reloading is a must. I'm also on the look out for some handi load data & info. He will be happy to hit clay birds at 40 or 50 yrds & so will I

When I get some loads that work I'll post them, may be awhile but thats half the fun :D
That's my boy, GOD BLESS AMERICA!!

I get my best accuracy out of 40 gr V-Max with 13.5 gr Lil'Gun in Rem brass with CCI 400.  The OAL is long, about 1.9", but the Handi chamber will handle that without  a problem.  It isn't a benchrest gun, but it will still shoot less than 1" at 100 yards.  The 35 gr V-Max hasn't shown me much that's good and neither has the 45 gr Nosler solid base.

Winchester brass may be a little thicker and it holds about 0.5 gr less powder  Win and Rem bulk 45 & 46 gr bullets don't shoot too good, but make pretty good plinking rounds.

My 9 year old and 11 year old grandsons don't have any problem with the recoil (which is very light), but make sure to use ear protection!

BTW, I'm using the 20" barrel that comes with open sights that's listed in the Barrel Accessory Program.
