Here is a pic of my Pole 44 and my Swede made into scout rifles.

nice set up.how do they shoot??the 44 looks like the perfect brush gun.

Just got the scopes on both of them in the last couple weeks. Since it is going to be cold here in the next few days. Below zero with a -30 to -40 at times I do not think I am going out shooting soon!  :eek: The older I get the colder I get!  :)   When I get around to shooting them I will post the results. I got to get some reloading dies and components and load some up for the Swede. I will probably try some Winchester and Wolf ammo in the 44. Maybe a few cast loads also. As far as Brush rifles go the Swede you cannot see well in the pic is cut down and is about the same length as the 44 a inch or so longer in the barrel.

Hey,

Is that the b-square mount for the 44?  Also, do you have to raise your cheek off the stock to look through the scope?  Thanks for your reply.

No I bought it from CDNN and it is a TargetSports one which I think is better than the b-square and less expensive through CDNN. It also is a Picianny rail instead of the 3 slots the bsquare has.  I can still get a good cheek weld though I do have to lift my head some.Scope is still not as high as some set ups I have seen.

Hey Jim,

Sure like the looks of those two scouts!!!  Would like to hear how they shoot and hunt.

I finished my 8x57 just in time to take it on a hunt last year and am still looking for its christning.  Here's a link of a pic of it on another post -see 1/17/05 at about 10pm.  Wish I had taked a pic of it before I got started on it - There's a BIG difference!

Yea Ray you did a nice job that is one swell looking Mauser! Yea waiting for some nice weather I bet it will be March or April before I get out and shoot them unless we get a real nice day in Feb. I got to load some ammo for the Swede yet and just ordered the dies and the dealer I go to only orders from Lee when he gets a couple of things so it could take a week or 2 just to get the dies and then I have to buy the components yet.
