Hey, new poster here.  Nice looking site and will look forward to talking with you folks.  Here is a pic of a male Coyote I took this morning at 270yds.  Took him down with my NEF 223 BBL.  One shot- bang/flop!

It's all a hot mess...........

Nice dog and welcome to the board!!

Wish I could get out and call some yotes :(

I did work on a new load for my H&R Ultra in .223 today though.  I'm trying a 40 grain V Max with Blc2 instead of my regular 50 grain V Max with Varget.

What load do you shoot with your NEF?

Thanks for the welcome Wlscott. I am currently running 55gr Sierra Blitz with 26.0 grains of H335 powder out of my weapon.  They shoot very well (.5" @ 100yds).  They also do a nice job on the dogs.  The dog in the pic took it in the neck.   Exit wound was dime size.  Too bad it had mange, would have made a nice pelt.

I would like to try the 55gr Sierra Blitzking bullets next.  I have a thing for polymer tips. I am also going to try out H322. Have you ever tried them? I could not get the 55gr V-max bullets to pattern at all.  One group would be .75" and the next would be 4".  I am happy with Sierra.

How are your experiences with the lighter bullets and Yotes?

Swift One, my "go to" load for my Ultra for the last several years has been a 50 grain V Max and 27.5 grains of Varget (THIS IS A MAX LOAD.  WORK UP SLOWLY AND SAFELY!!).  I am loading a 40 grain V Max now to try out.

The NEF/H&R's have a 1 in 12 twist so the lighter/shorter bullets should work better than the heavier/longer bullets.

The only problem I've had with the polymer tipped bullets (which I like a lot too) is that they sometimes make a bigger entrance hole than I'd like, and no exit hole.

I load the 55 grain V Max's for my AR.  It's a 1 in 9 twist, and it likes them a lot.  I guess you could say I'm a fan of the V Max's.  I've used Nosler bullets, and they work well in my 300WSM, but my coyote rigs just seem to like the Hornady stuff better.

Swift One

Welcome to GB Outdoors.   I used to live in Valparaiso and had yotes howling right behind my house.

Now I'm in much warmer climates down here in southern IL.

  :)

Nice yote and nice shot!!
