454 Ammo Deal of the year
« on: January 25, 2003, 01:21:30 PM »
I was looking at  a new Sportsmans Guide sales catalog last week and couldn't believe my eyes. They had Winchester 454 ,260 grain Partition Gold Ammo listed at $5.47 for a box of 20 factory loads. I got on the internet and ordered 5 Boxes. I should have bought alot more ,but I had never used them ,and did'nt know how they would shoot in my gun.Well they shot great .so logged back on to order more but they had caught the mistake . I was hoping to score a few more boxes at that price, but guess I was lucky to get what I had.By the way the new price was $23.97 per Box.

I have shot these loads in my Raging Bull and they are by far the most accurate load out there (at least in my gun).

You got a super great deal!

WildBill:  at $24 for 20 I would get into the reloading business real quick,  if you're not there already.  If you do, I know which direction you're going to be headed in.  Years ago, the older Lyman reloading manuals introducted reloading with a comparison of economies of scale - that is, how much you would save by reloading your own.  With the advent of inexpensive ammunition from european manufacturers and even less expensive reloads from American manufacturers, some folks wonder why they should consider reloading.  I think the 454 is one good reason.  Mikey.

Hey guys I stoped into Pro Load today and found out that they have 454 magtech for 14.50 a box.  I thought you might want to know and they have a web site
http://www.proload.com/shoppingcart/targetammo.asp
I think if you buy quantity you get a discount and you dont have to pay for using ccard.

Dont want to tell anyone what to do, but Mag-Tech 260 .454s have a nasty habit of sticking in the cylinder of my SRH. Had to pound em out with a mallet. I have 2 boxes plus a partial box I broke down for componets. I wouldnt buy in quanity until you try them out.
