NEF 45-70 ammo question(s)?
« on: January 04, 2005, 05:32:45 AM »
Got the Pig Killer comin' in 45-70! Looking at Midway and CTD I have lots of choices for ammo. What's y'alls call for all around hunting at 100 or less yards for pig game?

1. Cor Bon: 350gr, Bonded SP
2. Winchester: Super X, 300 gr, JHP
3. PMC: 405gr, Ld Flt Pt
4. PMC: Silver Line, 350 gr, Flt Nose, SP
5. Lancer: 405gr, Rd Nose, FP

Any comments on above?
Thanks and Gig''em

Don't know about pig killing loads...but I do know deer killing loads...and given you might run into a big hog every now and then...I would go with your choice of #1 and #4....now if you find some Winchesters with the 300 grain partition...then I would go with those over the others...I hand load the partitions and they are the best bullet for my  45-70 needs...
