NOTICED  WHEN  i put factory  rds. in they rub on top of chamber unless i push case down  then they rub on extracter . shaves brass off either  way . havent  shot it  yet  my other  barrels  dont do  this  . any  comments  out  there on  this  ?? ty  lee  email  me  at  shaleetoo@yahoo.com

I also have a new 204 barrel for my Encore!  I haven't fired it yet either!

I would suppose that the reason the cartridge rubs so much is due to the fact it has hardly any taper to it, so when the shoulder is inserted into the chamber it has to rub a little.

Got my curiosity up, so I had to go get my rifle and try a cartridge in it!  It didn't rub until the cartridge was about 3/4 of the way into the chamber and it didn't leave any brass shavings on the chamber or the extractor!

Your problem may go away with use!  Sometimes when things are manufactured, they have sharp "tooling" edges!

If it is real severe, I'd recommend that you contact T/C!

I recently bought a T/C .204 barrel and had trouble with it. I sent it back to T/C and they replaced it, turn around wasn`t bad eather. Give them a call and talk to them.

.204 Ruger is a rimless case.......in a Contender the extractor has to be spring loaded with upward presure to grab the rim. You will have that scraping on just about any chambering based on .222, .223 cases.

Yes the .204 is rimless. It is the .222 mag. case necked down with the shoulder blown out.
