Hi CT,
The hernia might be genetic or it may just be that his mother was to rough when she cleaned him up. It was her first litter and she was rather awkward cleaning them. I just don't want to risk passing the hernia trait to other puppies if it is genetic. It's better to get a male neutered anyway, unless you do plan on breeding him. They tend to focus on one thing if they aren't neutered. We have another male available that could be used for breeding, if that's what you're looking for.
Otherwise, he is a great little Chessie. He has an outstanding personality, as does his mother and father. Both parents are excellent retrievers with lots of will and desire. They love to retrieve. They would go all day long, non-stop if we let them.
We are located in Greer, SC. That is about 15 minutes out of Greenville.
Thanks,
Tim
