You might want to try this as an alternative. I've been keeping my eye out for good buys on used scopes at some of my local gun dealers. A lot of times guys will trade a rifle in wearing a nice scope, and most dealers are willing to sell them separately. Used scopes don't hold their original value any better than my cars do. I picked up a used Swift 6-18x44 AO for $50, Cabelas sells the same scope new for $209. Just know what your looking at before buying. Check the mechanics of the scope, look for lens scratches, loose parts, in general play with it a little bit. If they carry lifetime warranties, it can always be fixed for free, no matter who the original owner was. You may even want to carry a Cabelas catalog with you to look up the scopes price, warranty, and other features. Good luck!
