I now how it is. I'm not addicted either. That's all i did today was go riding around to local gun stores and pawn shops today.  I knew i should have stay home; i had no money but usually when i do go to the local shops there is no handis insight, but today THEY WERE EVERYWHERE. (why lord, why do you have to do this to me when i have no money) The first shop i go into there is a 30-30 sitting on the rack, needless to say my jaw hit the counter. In my area you just don't come across a 30-30 handi PERIOD. That is the first used one i have ever saw. The price tag read $159. Now i thought to myself it's old the serial # won't start with an N but you guessed it sure enough there it was N. At this point I just broke down. I had to leave with no 30-30 in my hand.

Then the next shop i go to, as soon as i walk through the door the first thing i notice is a handi with a laminate stock and i figured, ohh it's an ultra definitely don't have the money probably an '06 or 270. Nope it was a 444. Now this had a laminate stock i had never seen before it was green and gray not like the regular camo laminate. he wanted 245 for it.

In all reality i had the money but i am now trying to save for the praire dog shoot coming up so i passed on both, but come monday if the 30-30 is still there it is coming home with me.

Hey Mitchell,

You will not be dissappointed with the 204.  I just sighted mine in last week (see my thread about  sighting in my Ruger 204).  I opted for the Simmons ATV 4.5-14x40 on the advice of some shooters on this forum.  I am pleased as punch with the rifle and the scope.  I will be thinning the coyote and racoon population of Bosque county, Texas, much to the benefit of local turkey population.  My rifle also had an outstanding trigger, right out of the box.  Keep us posted on the progress of your scope selection, sighting in, and end results (whether paper or varmint.)

Handi-2 / 204Rug / Simmons ATV (4.5-14x)
Handi-3 / ???????????

Long live the Handi-Rifle!

Hey Mitchell, Good for you buddy!!! Atta way!!!

Varminter, whats the matter with you guy? You feeling OK?  I have always heard you were squared away, and you left a 30-30 like that in the rack!!! Go back and get it quick before it's gone!!! Believe me I know how hard it is to come by a good one used!!! Jus think, you too could shoot against the "Great GB hisself" with your nice 30-30 and iron sights. P'dogs at 150 yards with 30-30's and iron sights, and a free steak dinner if you get one! I'll bet they would even throw in a couple of Malt beverages to help wash down that succulent, thick, juicy, FREE, steak. If I lived closer I'd be there, The trouble is I live so far away I can actually smell the salt water on a damp day!!! Just think, being to say that you shot head to head against the Great GB!!! And with your very own H&R 30-30!!! Be still my heart!!!....<><....

But MSP i'm in a dilemma now. It's either get the 450 barrel that mitchell has offered me or go back and get the 30-30 i dont' know which. If i get the 450 barrel i'll have enough to get dies and some bullets. But if i get the 30-30 that's it just the gun. I just don't know.  i have the perfect solution......BUY THEM ALL and i will definitely be happy.

No money for scope or dies? That's what credit cards are for. You can't be totally addicted to Handis if you don't max out a credit card or two buying accessories for them, so don't worry about that  :-D
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens
