There is a fellow that has posted a WTB for one in the H&R/NEF classifieds.

I agree DaveH, the Wal Mart price has been $89 for a long time, in any gauge....some have thought the 28 was more but they are all $89....<><....

That's what I had thought to. But when I looked for a full sized Pardner in .410 on the Waly-World site I could not find one, Only the Topper.  And yes every other Pardner regardless of gauge listed for $89.  Here's the link:

OK tjf76, please don't shoot the messenger but here is what I think the value is...$70 in near perfect condition to about $45 to $50 not perfect look wise but perfect mechanically, and at  lower end from a friend. I understand they are found quite often used for $50, but not around here! Shops  (as opposed to private sales which are less) usually have them for about $70.00 used in this area....<><....

I bought my .410 Topper second hand but unfired from a fellow in my former church for $50.  I wasn't looking for a .410 or a single shot at the time but he needed the cash and the deal was just too good to pass up.  By the way it was that Topper that got me into these H&R/NEF guns. That was about 4 years ago.

It has turned out to be one of my favorite guns.  It and a 6" nine shot .22 High Standard revolver make a great squirrel hunting team.  The .22 revolver takes care of the ones on the ground and the .410 takes out the ones up in the trees.

I would not try it. There is a special combo barrel offered but don't know how it differs from a shotgun barrel, not a safe thing to try in my estimation....<><....

Some people like to take chances like that;  I'm not one of these people.

I wouldn't try it if I was you.  My understanding is that the barrel that will shoot .45lc's and .410 shot shells is an oversized bore not a true .410. and there is no choke restriction (i.e.; open choke).  Furthermore that barrel uses a screw in rifled choke tube to stabilize the .45 bullet.  If the .45 cal. bullet cleared the barrel of a standard .410 barrel without blowing up in your face first it would be terribly inaccurate.   If you want to launch one big chunk of lead out of a .410 just buy .410 slugs.  8)

tjf76,

The gun you are talking about is the .410/.45 Colt Survivor. It is a rifled .45 caliber barrel that uses a choke for the .410. When shooting the .45 no choke is installed. The shot cup rides down the barrel on the lands of the rifling and then through the choke. This set-up is made for close range "Survivor" type shooting in both the .410 and .45LC with only a bead sight installed on the barrel. DO NOT EVER SHOOT .45 IN ANY .410 BORE. Thompson Center also has this type of barrel for the contender frame.

Please click on the link and read about this gun and you will have a better understanding of it. Read the top of the page also.

Thanks for the info. I just saw a few posts about people shooting 45 from a 410 and thought it would be neat. Guess I'd better read more before I hurt myself :coffee:
