:D , Welcome aboard Yukon!!!, I don't have a Huntsman and rely on my older TC Renegades in .50 and .54 rifled and .56 smoothbore and they get the job done very nicely. My home state does not allow break action ML's for some unknown reason. I think the Huntsmans and Sidekicks all have faster twists which stabliizle saboted bullets better than they do large lead round balls and slugs like the Maxiballs, Miniballs, Great Plains Bullets etc. If what you are looking for is a BIG chunk of lead check the rate of twist on that TC and see what he will take for it. Of course, the Huntsmans and Sidekicks are great ML's in thier own right....<><....

Welcome yukon, :D

With all the Serious Critters you have running around on your turf, you may do well to get ahold of another member here named Sourdough.

He lives in Alaska as well and shoots a Huntsman, among other weapons...and hunts bear, moose, etc. You can scan down the list of new topics on this forum, and see his name. Open his post and click on his e-mail. He may also come across this topic and post if he is lurking about.

I don't readily run across the kind of mean critters you have there,so do not feel qualified to advise you,as much as I love my Huntsman and T/C's.  Good luck with your decission and keep us posted.

I have owned both weapons. I did not like the Thunderhawk but you will never be able to get the Huntsman out of my hands. I hunt elk and large mule deer here in Utah and I found the Huntsman has never let me down. (When you use the proper bullets matched up to the game animal) You will be pleasantly surpised how will the the Huntsman will shoot. The 209 primer system of the Huntsman is very reliable, The Thunderhawk has #11 muzzleloader  primer cap system and can really miss up a hunt if there is moister in the air.  The 209 primer system is more reliable and easy to load. You can get the primer holders from Cabelas or H&R for the Huntsman.  My son was using a CVA Magnum Hunter and after shooting my Huntsman he is selling the CVA and buying a Huntsman.
