My buddy Terry and I do some guiding in the Metro area, ducks and geese, both field and water. We dont advertise, a lot of locals use us. I didnt guide a lot this year, I'm in college at Winona State so I couldnt make it home a lot. We dont really have the desire to advertise because we're young, both 18, and we have had some people dissapointed when they meet us, I think they want to be led out by a grizzled old veteran, nothing wrong with that. Both of us are very accomplished callers though, when people ask if we have won tournaments we say no, we spend our falls hunting, but if you want I can show you videos of me and Terry calling in ducks that land between your legs and geese that have landed next to our faces. We dont get caught up in the contest thing but we would like to try our hand at it when we have some time. Also, we do a lot of our guiding as kind of a "get kids into hunting" program, we take a lot of young boys and girls out on opener and youth day so they get a chance to see and shoot lots of birds, they all eventually get hooked on it and we let them take part in the calling, its easy to teach a kid to use a drake whistle or make a single quack on a double reed. Then they really get to call in ducks with us. It also helps our farmer relationships, if we take their kids out, they let us use their fields. Its fun and we hunt every minute we can. I see your from the cities, maybe we could do some swap hunting some time.
