what forarm for 16 1/4 fox ridge barrel????
« on: January 13, 2005, 01:52:14 PM »
Just picked up a contender 17hmr 16 & 1/4" fox ridge barrel on e-bay.  This is my first fox ridge barrel and not sure if I need special furniture.  Going to mount forarm for 10" barrels for now.  (I figure that is better than duct tape to hold the hindge pin in).

Thanks,

Joe

A carbine forearm will definately work and so will a Super 14 but with that one, the dove-tailed nut on the barrel will have to be removed that's closest to the muzzle since this screw hole won't line up. It's better to just get a carbine forearm and be done with it.

My 16 1/4" HMR barrel is the bull configuration, and the standard fore end was a little tight on it. I sanded out a composite fore end a bit, and it worked great.
