Author Topic: When I start lookin for a second Contender Frame (Read 966 times)

Shortly I am going to start the search for a second contender frame. Got a mixture of SS and Blued barrels now and one Stainless Frame (about 1984 vintage, I think) so I will probably look for a blued frame.

Anyway most of the barrels have been bought from other folks on the Net and so far I have been very lucky (after looking at some other posts) in that they all go on my frame and function just fine.

Since all the barrels fit this frame is it a good idea to take one of my current barrels with me to try when looking at a second frame? This way I could make sure it fit. If is does is it likely all the other barrels will also function correctly?

Finally if you are in Sunny Warm Minnesota and have a frame you would part with reasonably let me know...

I recently saw three or four Contender frames on Gunbroker.com, you might want to take a look at these. I know sometimes you can overpay using the auction sites but sometimes you can get a pretty good deal. Bought my Anaconda through Gunbroker and actually got a pretty good deal. Goes to support the old saying "even a blind squirrel finds a nut now and then."

Just bought a Contender frame from James at alewisenterprise.com (sites down for maintenance right now). He had one more frame I think. Great guy to deal with. His number is 931-670-5642, he's got a bunch of Encore frames he sells for $199 (frame only) and $10 shipping on Auction Arms.

Is the easy open late model Contender from the one with the piviot pin dicrecly above the trigger?

Also, Slemer.... Just kiddin about the weather although it has been unseasonably warm for the most part so far. But last night we got dumped on with about 10 inches of the white fluffy stuff. It was the wet kind too that turns ta ice when it gets packed down from folks driving on it. Now all the roads feel like 40 miles of chuckholes... First real measurable snow we've had all year...

Yep. Easy opening started from the factory with serial number 195,000. If it's an older frame and has had the mod done, the pivot pin be relocated directly over the trigger like the later models. Easy to see if you compare the exploded view of the old style and the new. Old style exploded view is posted on the web site http://www.okiegunsmithshop.com scroll about half way down the page and you'll see a link to "exploded view's" I'm going to scan the new exploded view in and send it to him to post.
