First off, thanks for the welcome although I feel that I already am home so to speak. I am not sure how to quite do this - I am going to reply to all of your questions in this one!
MtJerry - The 270 shoots great, 1 1/4" at 150 yds. It's a 92 vintage and I
am using a 110 gr. Sierra Pro Hunter bullet over 54.5 gr. of
IMR 4350. COL=2.180. It is not a hot load
Brett - I live in the Eastern Panhandle of West by God, half way
between Martinsburg and Charles Town. When I moved here
33 years ago, it was still country but now have developments
springing up everywhere.
v8r - The .450 shoots a little less than an inch at 100 yds. I am using
Sierra 300 gr. hollow point over 58 gr of H322 and COL=2.525.
This one came from Wally World and as soon as I saw the gun,
I knew I had to have it! Recoil is massive.
ONE HOLE 4570 - I am using 9.8 gr of Alliant 2400 and that load works
well with the Hornady 40 gr. VMAX, 45 Hornady BEE, and Sierra
40 gr Varminter HP. All will shoot 7/10 inch group or less at
100 yds. My rifle likes the bullets seated in, I tried seating out
closer to the rifling and the groups opened up. I recommend
Winchester cases - they seem to be a little thicker than Reming-
ton's. Also, stay away from 296 powder, very hard on cases.
That powder, along with full length resizing, has led to quite a
few case head separations in the Remington brass.
