My 10" .357 Contender is a little unwieldy and heavy and I'm thinking of sawing it off to 6". Any one ever try this?

I once used a chop saw to cut down a 303 Enfield barrel and smoothed the muzzle opening with a abrasive Dremmel bit and to my surprise, it shot under an inch at 100 yards. You have to take it slow to prevent overheating the steel but it can be done. I wouldn't recomend it for a Contender barrel but it's your choice.

I've shortened several barrels to 10" from longer ones. In a 357 I would think it would make a great little carry around gun. Dang, now ya got me thinkin about it!!! KN

I have a 45LC 10" that has been open to take .410 also, and now that you have said something about shorting your .357 I think this would do good for the same reason. I have a .45-70 and a 7-30 so this barrel wasn't getting much time, the short barrel would fill a space for me. Thanks for the idea.
