Tally Ho is one of the most versital calls out there.  I also like the Tweety, and the new "Double Barrel" from Sceery.  Just called in a dog Saturday with the Double Barrel.  It's very loud and sounds good.

Sceery AP-6 is the hands down best mouth call available in my opinion.

I wnet with a crit-r-call song dog and a tallyho.  the song dog has a 50 page booklet on calling which is what swayed my decision to go with them.

Thanks
Doug

The AP-6 is a great call, but it is classified as a bite reed call.  The Sceery AP-7 however is a true open reed call and in my opinion is one of the most user friendly calls out their.  I will always have one in my arsenol. Got an AP-6 too- another great call.

I was going to pick up a Sceery but the description said for experienced callers.  I am clearly not an experienced caller.

It is true that open reed and bite reed calls require a little more time to get to know, but do not be intimidated by what they write on the package.  The Dan Thomplson Red Desert Howler that I bought said nothing about having to be an experienced caller and that is one of the most difficult calls that I have had to learn.  Granted, now that I know how to use it, I can make some darn good Yote vocalizations with it.

The trick with open reed calls is getting them in your mouth an practicing with them.  I do this driving to and from work.  I also watched a randy Anderson video and that helped quite a bit.  Once you learn how to use them, you wonder how you ever made it without them.

I have had nothing but productivity out of the Sceery calls and the AP-7 is one of the easier open reed calls to use.

Dougk,
You made an excellent choice. The sceery calls are great , the ap-6 is a excellent call as is the ap-7. But the critr' calls can produce any sound you might need and are cheaper. You have the songdog you need to get a pee-wee and or a standard they are excellent and can make any call from mouse squeeks to elk calls. They are very easy to get good with the ap-6 from sceery has a slightly wider range of pitch's but is harder to get good with in my opinion . I use one and like it but if your just starting the critr' calls are the way to go. I wish I had known about them when I started , I learned on an old lohman that was alot harder to learn.

The calls came today.  I was able to use the song dog right away.   The sound was perfect.  The Tally Ho will take some practice...
