.223 loads. Barns Bullets.
« on: January 12, 2005, 09:22:53 AM »
I am usin the barns bullets now, little more accuracy and same price as nosler bt's. I bought the book too and with a charge of 25 gr of imr4198 it sends em sailin. But, it fills the case to the top. so theyr compresed loads. I cant seat the bullet close to the lands cause the powder wants to push em out. You guys got any ideas on this? I want to keep the same charge with the same oal. Let me here your minds speak! Thanks in advance guys. Hank.

1.Hodgdon lists the H4198 as the fastest powder for the 223.
2. I don't see any loads with 25gr of that powder.
3 You don't say what bullet weight you are using.

Varget is the powder listed as the most suitable for the 223.

H4198 is fast enough without being compressed. As a general rule you don't compress fast powder. At least not to a point where it pushes the bullet out of the neck.
