In the seventies the FBI carried the 158gr. lead hollow point in 38 special, in an issued Model 10 Smith. I would check other L.E. sources as well to compare. FBI has not always made the best choices on a number of issues. JMO

I live and work between city and rual outdoor areas, which can involve running into trail critters of 4 paws and teeth.  I carry a 240-gr JSP bullet in my .44 Spl/Mag.  I wish Federal would make what we used to call the flying ash tray hollow point again.  It was a very wide hollow point that was designed for opening up at .45 ACP and .44 Spl velosities.  But in cold weather up here in Montana, I want something that will get the job done.  Hollow points will get clogged with clothing and really become like my JSP bullets anyway.

In the end, trust the one that hits it's mark. The rest were just noise. ;)

The bullets that I load, Speer 140 gr HP, in my 357 mag are the ones I trust. Its the only ammo I have in the gun I carry.

Hodgdon, Lyman, Speer, Sierra, Hornady = reliable resources
so and so's pages on the internet = not reliable resources
Alway check loads you find on the internet against manuals.
NEVER exceed maximum listed loads.
