.32 S&W Long

Ok, the .32 S&W Long can be fired in a .32 magnum revolver.  I read that the .32 magnum is twice as powerful as the .32 S&W long.  What is the comparison of the .32 S&W Long to the .32 acp?  Penetration, stopping power etc.?  And how is it's availability?  Thanks.

Energy and velocity are similar for the 32 auto and 32 S&W long, however the 32 auto is available in hollow point defensive type rounds where the 32 long will most likely only be available with a round lead bullet.

The 32 H&R Magnum will have around 220ft/lbs of energy and around 1100 ft/sec velocity

The 32 mag would be a better choice in my oppinion as you can shoot the weaker 32 longs in it if recoil is a problem for you. I would load it with the 32 mags for defensive purposes though. A revolver always goes bang when you pull the trigger - you can't always same the same for an autoloader.
