95/15 Spanish Mauser

Basicly a normal looking Spanish Mauser with a modification to the sights.
It also appears to have a thicker  barrel than my other 93's or 95's.
anyhow I now have one and took it to my range a couple of days ago.
It's a 7mm mauser and I was using standard military ball ammo made by FN in 1969. I have never fired a military rifle that shot this well.
At approx. 100 meters it fired 30 rounds almost into one big ragged hole.
exactly to point of aim. I did not have to adjust the sights at all !
Does anyone else have one of these rifles? I have found very little
info on it.

Ball's third edition of MMROTW does not show such under Spain.Very interesting.What are the markings,crests,etc on the receiver and left side of the action?Can you post pictures?

I have a spanish mauser but i'm not sure what it is.  Its a twin to my 1895 chilean 7mm carbine except its spanish of course.  If i remember correctly the date on the barrel is 1926.                    BigBill

I have Ball's  third edition of Mausers of the world I just haven't had time to check it out.

I had a hard time finding any info. on it either!
I found it in JANE's INFANTRY WEAPONS 1985 edition.
It really looks the same as a 95 Mauser but the sight
increments are different. Jane's says that is when they
were modified to fire the 139-141 grain spitzer bullets
instead of the 170-175 grain roundnose.
It has the OVIDEO(Sp) Spanish crest with 1915
stamped beneath it. Other than the serial #'s
that is the only marks I have found. No proof marks
or military acceptance markings anywhere?
There is however a very prominent triangle stamped into the
stock in two places.

S.Sumner;   I had a chance to look in R.Ball's 3rd edition of  "Mauser Military Rifles of the World" and in the Spanish section it jumps from the M1895 to the M1916 and doesn't mention the M1915 at all.  It doesn't mean it wasn't made its just not in the book yet maybe in the 4th edition.

So many mausers and so little time!!!!  There are 1,000 different mausers. I'm kind of hooked on the 7mm's.  What more can i say there just as accurate as the swede's(but maybe a tad better i was afraid to say it)  The 7mm is one of the flatest shooting rounds there is, its so good they copied the 30-06 from it.  I still like my 6,5 swede but the 7mm is right there with it.  Small bores are awesome too!!!!
