Is it true?

I heard through the rumor mill at our local gun shop that Winchester is discontinuing the 9422. If it's true, it's truly a shame to lose one of the all time classic, and one of the best, rimfire rifles.

It's true I read it on their website yesterday. If you want one you better get it now.

What would be the reason? Are they too expensive for rimfire in today's market? Are people moving over to .17? Is .17 becoming as economical plinker as .22? They aren't dropping the 9417 along with the 9422 are they?

I heither heard or read that their tooling needed to be replaced or upgraded and they have chosen not to. I would imagine this comes down to economics If this is the reason.

Hmm.  I've not heard about this particular rifle myself (I don't shoot a lot of rimfire), but I do notice that the Henry lever action .22lr's pop up often and apparently cost a good bit less than the Winchester.  Perhaps they were simply priced out of the market?

Well, at least it's an opportunity for Henry.  :?
