Do I need a 410 full choke topper?
« on: January 15, 2005, 01:18:48 PM »
I was out and about today and I saw what I thought was a 20 ga topper. When I got closer it was a 410 . I wouldn't mind a 410 for squirrels and such, but I also want the 22 hornet.   Man, decisions, decisions.   I guess I'll have to sleep on that one ( which to get first)
What's yall's take? Don't need it, but?

You can never have too many. At least that's what I keep telling my wife. Honestly I have never seen much use for a 410. I just inherited the one I gave to my father as a gift on his last birthday. My wife shot it a few times the other day, just at some empty soda bottles and it gave her a big smile. I think it will get a little use on squirrels. If you read some of the posts by scattergunner he has a great time with his.

Well, it's not the topper, but the pardner full size if there is such a thing. And yes it got into the house undetected. I called my friend at BPS and he said he had one in stock. I told him to put my name on it and that I would be right over.   I'm going to clean it up tonight so I can get some tree rats in the morning, and if I see some bunnies I'll add them to my collection. This is the first 410 I've ever owned. Got a box of the # 6 shot with the 3 inch shells. Can't wait to fire it up in the morning.

Hey Tommy, Mine patters 2-1/2" #6 loads better than 3" #6 and have plenty of range for squirrels. The 3" #6's leave a big hole in the center of the pattern.  3" #7-1/2  loads pattern great though and are death to rabbits.  Good luck and let us know how you make out.

What does NEED have to do with it?  It is all about WANT, isn't it?

I have a quite a few guns I didn't need, but because I wanted them there in my gun case. I dont' need a .410 but I do want one, just haven't gotten it YET. :D

I agree with Brett, go with the 2-1/2" shells. You'll get a better pattern.
