77/22 conversion to 17hmr
« on: January 17, 2005, 04:52:24 AM »
I was looking at my new cabelas shooting calalog and found a 17 hmr barrel to fit my 77/22 mag.  Has anyone tried this barrel swap? How accurate? The stainless flutted is only 165$, cheaper than a contender barrel. Looks like a good way to try out the caliber.

thanks, GNNC

77/22 to 77/17

I took my 77/22 VMBZ action from a 22 magnum and found a Green Mountain "second" barrel for $50 and had it refinished with silver boron to match the target gray color of the action. I also found a 77/17 dark gray stock on Ebay. I have a Simmons 50 scope which is also target gray. This makes a nice combo with everything matching in the target gray color. I have yet to shoot it, so I can say how it shoots.
Thanks,
John B.
