I was wondering if any official date has been listed for the 7.62X39 barrel.
By the way - my Handi took its first deer a couple of days ago.
270gr Speer Gold-Dot out of my .44Mag barrel.
What a great caliber for deer!
Yeah, that 44 is a great little rifle for deer, I took four last year with mine, two with the Gold Dot. What load are you using? I also get really good groups from the Hornady 300 XTP. I get 1575 fps with the 270 and 1525 fps with the 300. H110 gives the best velocities and accuracy, and 1680 gives really good accuracy but is not as fast, but it seems to be a really good cast bullet powder. If you are shooting cast, be sure and slug your bore and shoot bullets of that diameter or .001"-.002" larger. I had been having a lot of trouble getting good velocity from cast, and after finding my bore to be .432, shooting some unsized bullets solved that. There are quite a few 44 shooters here. Enjoy it, it's a fine rifle
