ANOTHER bad stock
« on: January 19, 2005, 04:08:36 PM »
This is the second 10 gauge I've had to refuse because of a terrible finish and wear down to the wood.  Ordered through my local "mart", the first one had two long wear marks on the stock with the black finish coming off on your hand.  I sent it back and had them order another.  Tonight I went to pick it up and the stock was uneven in it's finish and the forearm had a long wear mark down to the wood.  I couldn't accept it.  My son has a Handi in .243 that has a great finish, so I know it's not the norm for NEF.  I told them to get me one in Mossy Oak.  It's $20 more but I hope I have better luck with the quality.  Now I have to wait another 4 or 5 days!  If I don't kill a coyote with a 10 gauge soon I might have to have therapy.

Well, I had one of those black stocks, and it was not to my taste either. I traded it in for synthetics. I do hear that they can be refinished quite nicely if you strip them down, but they should come with a decent finish.
