I'm about ready to have a Williams Fool-Proof receiver sight put on this rifle & an wondering if the safety on the bolt will interfere with the installation. Will the peep need to be set further forward than on a gun without it? I've read that the safety can be removed, but is this necessary? Thanx for your feedback. jd45

The silly little safety lever sits right where the sight should sit. Both can't occupy the same space at same time. One or the other has to go. If you find out how to make the safety go away I'd like to hear about it as that's the only thing I don't like about mine. I actually love the sights on it and plan to use them as is.

Well durn it, Bill! You've gone and confused me (not hard to do). Seriously, maybe I should try the gun out with the factory sights, first, & then think about it. Thanx. jd45

I ground off the little lever, removed the bottom third of the safety (the actual functional part), polished the top and reblued and reinstalled. It now functions only to plug the hole the made for the safety.

I was going to try a receiver sight but went with a full buckhorn rear instead, and think I'll stick with it.
