Buzzy if i remember right  your bvr came fm WI originally so i would think you would get   a better offer than that unless the fella is  ahem trying to a shaft you.........  You might do better offering them to someone that knows furs abit more and is fair and possibly you could  sell yr  otter to him also   hopefully.

Buzz, was that the buyer we talked about last week?
It may be time for you to get out the beam and fleshing knife.Send those suckers to NAFA. When I was in MS.,some of those beaver brought $16.00 at nafa, beaver prices are up from then.Plus those otter would average real well at auction.
I am not laughing Buzz, hate when someone looks to turn a trappers efforts into their retirement fund.A buyer needs a profit, but a killing---no.

Amen to that Tom... I see that problem with alot of buyers treating the  trappers unfairly.   Alot of trappers dont know how to put up fur properly  and sell  green skinned or in the round.... that i can see would result in a small lower price but not what Buzzy was offered... Flesh emout Buzzy and maybe buy that new future bride a necker flesh knife    :)

Buzz: My buyer's been giving me about that for them too in the round. He said he got screwed on the beaver this last year; had a lot that didn't sell. I keep catching them, though and he keeps buying. Whatever, I don't have the time to put up all the beaver I catch so it's a good option for me to make some gas money. And yes, he IS really interested in the otter. 30!

More than likely, a buyer who prefers beaver in the round is double dipping----he is selling the carcasses and the fur.
When you sell in the carcass for 5 bucks---this guy has all the bases covered, sales of the carcass, give him a free pelt.
Boy I hate to see this happen.

Dont forget the castors too Tom when they are in the round.  The castor market now is up and is getting pretty close to good.  Averaged 21 and change on them at the May sale at NAFA.

I think they also like to see them in the round is so they can screw you a little on sizes.  If the beaver is an in betweener which size is he gonna go your favor or his.   Heck I would do the same thing.

This fellow is an honest man. I can tell when most people are lying to me or bending the truth, I have a sixth sense for that (body language/eye contact).I asked about carcasses and he said he sells neither carcass nor castor and I'm inclined to believe him since he gave me free run of his skinned carcasses out back so I'd have plenty fresh bait. Thay were all intact. Now, rats and coon he makes a good chunk off the carcasses for meat, he freely admits that. God bless him, he's a nice old guy. I've never felt slighted by him in my dealings with him. I'll be paying him avisit tomorrow w/ some otter.
