Will Cowboy shooters flock to the new Vaquero?
« on: January 07, 2005, 08:34:44 AM »
I am not a cowboy shooter, but have been wanting a .45 vaquero for awhile now. I prefer the older model because of the added strenght for +P loads. If I wait a year or so will the market be flooded with the larger frame vaqueros?

 Thanks, Matt

Well I only shoot CAS part time so maybe I am not the most qualified shooter to answer this. Here goes, depends on how many calibers Ruger decides to offer on the New RV(45-357 are current production?) ,perhaps the shooters of Colt clones make the jump to Ruger for reliability and strength? I have set of old Ruger RV (45) that I would not part with. I am not so sure you going to see that  many of the old Ruger RV sold, traded, the pards that shoot 38-40or44-40, probably will not go for the New RV. Mainly because they are not currently in production. Most likely, wait and see situation? There is also the strength factor,NEW RV laod to only normal SAAMI specs, with OLD RV seen loads go off the charts. This is just my thoughts ...Respectfully Montanadan.

If they expand the lineup to include a stainless 38 WCF version with 4.75" or 5.5" barrel, I'll flock to it.  I don't want what they're offering right now.

I think that Cowboy shooters will buy the New Vaquero as fast as Ruger can make them.

That said I don't expect a glut of Old Vaqueros to bring prices down much below 300.00 per gun. Too bad too. I'd lilke to pick up a couple old Vaqueros!

I got a pair of the ORV's and want to take a look at the new ones.  I have a whole bunch of replacement parts for the old ones so won't be getting rid of mine.  Always looking to add to the fold, though.

As I shoot 45 Colt, the new ones would fit right in for me.  Still figuring on saving a bit each month and seeing what the prices look like in 6 months to a year.  Let the initial rush get over with and see where the prices stablize at

The wife and I will end up with at least 4 or them maybe 6 in the long run.  They fit our hands very well.  That said I won't be parting with anything we have now.

The biggest market may be for the youngsters and women that are coming into the sport. With a better fitting gun those classes could become much more competitive
Just another worthless opinion!!

Well, I'll be first in line when they chamber it in .44 spl!  Hate the thought that I may have to buy a .357 and rechamber and rebarrel.  Oh well, sounds like a great gun for woods walking.  I just hope the steel grip frame isn't too heavy and mess's the balance up.  Have to wait and see.  If Barretta made the Stampede in .44 spl, I would already own one of those.  44 Man

Took only a few seconds of handeling one to know that my old Italian clones were gonna get retired to standby duty pretty soon. The New RV's are just my cup o' tea.Just gotta start squirellin' away a few bucks as fast as I can.
Price in Portland,Or was 429.00.I doubt that that will drop much over time....dang it.

If they make them in 38/357 I will buy two.
