Please let me know what game you able to take with the Hawkin we dealt on earlier in 2004, if possible? The only ones here were whitetail deer. I shot at a red fox once, but didn't connect. I kinda like to keep track of what's going on with guns I've owned. thanks, Steve.

I had the Hawken out the past two weekends working up some loads with it. I will use it during our late season Elk Season and during the ML season for deer... Right now all I have killed with it is paper...

I normally use a Lyman 54 cal during these late seasons - but I wanted a 50 so I could shoot a special load. In Idaho you can use saboted bullets during ML season, no scope, no #209 - so the Hawkin will work just fine. For elk I shoot a 300 grain .458 (45/70) Nosler Partition in a MMP Orange Sabot sitting on 85 grains of t7 fffg loose powder. For deer I switch to a 260 grain Nosler Partition in an Nosler sabot, same powder. Thompson barrels a notoriously tight so I really was unsure if I would be able to get sabots down - but they slip down just fine...

I should really thank you for the exceptional quality and well taken care of used TC Hawkin - the price was great and I can now re-affirm to you it shoots great.....

I will not get hunt with it till late next season, so it will be awhile but I will guarantee you it will be shot a lot between now and then...
