So I use alot of drags; most of which have 10 too 15 feet of chain. I still have a couple of drags I got from a guy years ago which he rigged with 6 feet of twin loop. You guys need to remind me not to use those DANG things again, obviously I haven't learned my lesson...
I snagged one by the rear foot yesterday and the dirty, low down, flea bitten, son of a juniper berry eaten female musta carried the dang grapple in his mouth three hundred yards past four rows of perfectly good junipers, through a cholla flat and across the head of an arroyo before he dropped it and hung up in the main gowth and basalt. Man I hate it when that happens. A perfectly good drag line for the first, oh 25 yards and then, nothing! That rotten misserable cast off of a mangy dog cost me an hour...shoulda shot him in the foot and let him to die slow!
I just know that the OLD ONE, Newt, ASA, T-man or one of you was rollin on the floor watchin me come back to the start and follow the drag mark to the end and nothin.
Thats the third "challenge" this year the other two went over froozen ground one half way up a boulder stroone slope and into a cave...thank god the grapple was out side. That was fun too...holdin on to the slope with both feet and my bung hole, pullin the chain with one hand the pistol cocked and ready in the other. Did I mention that I've cut lion tracks three times this year...once to a set!
Sometimes you get the bear and sometimes he gets you!
