Are there any semi autos chambered in 9mm that can compete in terms of accuracy with a tuned 1911? I'd expect at least a couple, but I can't even find a 9mm with adjustable sights, except CZ's plinking gun. With the popularity of 9mm I would think there would be at least a few in target configuration.

I have a Springfield 1911-A1, full size 1911 in 9mm with adjustable target sites. I do not compete, but I have found mine to be quite accurate.

Not to sure about a "tuned" 1911 - but I've got a S&W 59 that I'll match against just about any "9" out there, and she's factory. Well, along time ago - she was factory. Still "iron" both front and back, but she's the sweetest shooting gun I've ever found! I'm about "third" owner.

The Sig 210 is the most accurate pistol I have ever shot. Just wish I could afford one. :lol:

The "tuned" Beretta's will shoot very well.

I have a Kahr P9 that will shoot very neat little holes all clustered together. Had a Walther P-38 once, didn't keep it long. Couldn't keep it on a grapefruit at 15 feet! The karh is not a target gun and does not have adjustable sights, but shoots as tight as any gun I have owned. I have heard from others that most Kahr's shoot this good. 44 Man

Questor my friend - there is just something about a Browning Hi Power that is just right for me. I have carried and shot many of them and with few exceptions they were all accurate enough. If I was to purchase another of those I would get a trigger job and a Bar-Sto barrel and then try and outshoot it. HTH. Mikey.

I had a Sig P-226 a few years back that was VERY accurate. I guess I put over 20,000 rounds through it. It was still as accurate then as when I got it. Sold it right after I bought my Sig P-225. and it sure is an accurate gun. But not as accurate as the P-226. Wanted a slightly smaller gun.
Yes, I believe there are 9mm's out there as accurate as a tuned 45.

I just shot my little cheapo Egyptian Maadi Cadet (civilian Helwan) this last weekend. At 25 yards, I was keeping them inside a two inch black Shoot-N-See spot. Pretty danged good, considering my eyes, those tiny sights and the Gawd-aweful stiff trigger! It outshoots my warmed-over 1911, at least in my hands. Good 'nuff for me. :-)
The only other nine I have done better with is a buddy's Glock longslide.

I'm still trying valiantly to maintain my hatred of those "plastic fantastics", but it's getting tougher as they shoot so danged well for me! :wink:

Of course an out-of the-box 9mm versus a "tuned" 1911 wouldn't be fair; but if you're prepared to "tune" the 9mm, a Browning HiPower tuned by Cylinder & Slide should be more than satisfactory (they ain't cheap, but I think they're the best). Then again, the HiPower is single-action ... like the 1911, but UNlike most other 9mm's

i own a sig p239 chambered in.357 sig. so far it is incredibly accurate. they also chamber it in 9mm as well

I've never used one, but I understand that the CZ 75 Champion will perform with the best. Comes in 9mm and .40 S&W. Single action, compensator, lotsa hand tuning at the factory, designed for IPSC. They're not cheap, tho. I've seen them on GunBroker.com and one or two other internet sites for $1300-1400. For about $400-500 less, the standard CZ 75 IPSC looks really good too. Both guns have adjustable sights.

If my DA compact CZ 75 P-01 is any indicator, the Champion should be one heck of a target handgun. Accuracy of my P-01 is excellent for a service handgun and, tho the sights are fixed (drift adj. for windage), mine shoots to point of aim with 124-gr. ammo at 25-30 yards.

I compete (and win) with a Tanfoglio Match 9mm pistol. It is an improved version of the CZ75 built for target shooting. I believe they are sold by EAA in the US but I am not sure which models EAA carries - I do know they do not carry the entire range of Tanfoglio pistols.

Out of the five 9's my wife and I shoot, most accurate is a box stock Taurus 99, and then a Browning Hi-Power. The other ones are "belly" 9's and can't really be compared for accuracy. Good shooting..mt

If you want a really accurate 9 look at what they are shooting in Bullseye comp. now. Or look at the Smith 952. Check out this months American handgunner or guns for a look at some of the bullseye 9,s. Will sure enough shoot at 50yds. STI makes a good one as well.

I read the article on the S&W target 952. I wonder why a 92fs cannot be tricked out to compete? Just my thoughts as I like the 9mm but not enough to drop dead over a high dollar S&W.

I think it is the Feb issue, the newest one, just got last week, read it and passed it off or I could tell you for sure. Might be the march though.
