Winchester 1400 semi

Is the Winchester 1400 trash??  I recently bought one. I have not shot it yet.
Field & Stream just came out with their "50 greatest guns of all time" , and as a side blurb, they listed a few of the worst, including the Win. 1400.
If anyone has had one here for years and years, I would like to know what kind of service it has given them. Thanks for any feedback.

I have had one for 10 years or so. Its not a very high quality gun parts wise, but has always gone boom when the trigger is pulled. I bought it at Wally-World when they were having one of their gun dump sales so I didn't pay much for it. If you were to use it for sporting clays, skeet or trap and put gobs of ammo through it - I think it would eat itself up. But for an inexpensive hunting gun it should be fine.

I bought one for my son to bird hunt with over two years ago. It was in like new condition and has been an excellent gun for him to this point. No problems yet.

It is amazing that as I keep asking folk about the 1400, I get nothing but positive reviews from people who actually OWN them. I think the negative reviews come from people who don't own one. Thanks so far for the feedback, I welcome more if anyone has experiences.

I answered this on the Winchester post but would like to add this. Just because someone trash's one brand or sides one way I think it goes more along the lines this if they got perks from one or they get free press from one maker over the other. There is so much bias in this hunting / gun stuff it makes me laugh sometime's. Over the years I had some of the things that got placed in a bad light wrongly so.
