Called H&R re: barrel length
« on: January 29, 2005, 10:58:49 AM »
A few weeks ago I sent in my H&R shotgun action to be fitted w/ a Huntsman ML barrel.  Then I noticed that NEF/H&R make some MLs with 26" barrels.  Preferring a 26" barrel over a 24" barrel, I called NEF and talked with a person in service and asked if they could fit a 26" barrel to my receiver.  She then told me that H&R/NEF are no longer making the 24" barrels and as soon as their supply runs out, all ML barrels will be 26" long.  I then asked if I could get the 26" fitted to my receiver and she said sure, but they had not yet come in so it could be a while before I get the gun back.  No problem I said (its so dog gone cold outside now I'm not doing much shooting anyway).  Just thought ya'll might be interested in the barrel news.

Also have you folks seen the possitive review of the NEF ML by Chuck Hawks?

Is the 24 and 26 inch barrels have the same amount of grain capacity in the sidekicks? 150 in each or just the 26 inch?

It is my assumption that the longer barrels will hold up to 150 grains, but that is a question that I didn't ask.  I am interested in the longer barrel so I can more effectively use 100 grains of 777.  Thats the load I use in my Knight and I would like to do the same in the H&R.  With the shorter barrel 100 gr of 777 is not completely burned.
