meopta[artemis 3000] scopes
« on: January 25, 2005, 03:37:50 PM »
I just looked at one of these in my local gun store.  Its a 3X10X50mm with a 30mm tube.  Its as clear as my Ziess or Leupolds.  Looks really well made.  It is made in the Czeck Republic.  Meopta has a web site.  Has anybody got one or seen on.??  What do you think about it??  This one was priced at $405.00.  Not bad for a 30 mm.

One of the magazines rated this scope as a good buy.  Personally, I don't know much about these scopes, but if it costs $400, then I wouldn't take a chance either.

Heck, for $400 I'd buy something that has a proven track record - Elite 4200, Nikon Monarch, even the Zeiss Conquest.

And don't put too much emphasis on the 30mm tube thing either.  I used to and discovered it's more hype than anything else.  The biggest advantage (actually probably the only advantage) to the 30mm tube is that it is able to have a higher amount of adjustments,  but that's about it.

Again, if you want to spend $400 for it, then go for it, but if it were me,  then I'd buy something else.

Thanks Zac,,   I like your input.  I'm thinking the same way.  I have been reading all the forums about the Nikons and Zeiss and Bush 4200.  I have a Bush 4200 and really like it , but I'm looking at the Zeiss now for a new rig.  I'm putting a BulBerry in 6.5X284 on my Encore.  This will be a Rocky Mt. hunting rig , High country.

Just because you haven't heard of them doesn't mean they aren't highly regarded.  Go to AR15.com or snipershide.com and do some research on these scopes.  They are considered a fantastic deal and most people who are serious about their optics find these scopes to be just as good as many Swarovskis or Zeiss scopes.
