enfield No. 4 Mark 1 magazines
« on: December 15, 2003, 09:00:59 AM »
I've got an Enfield No. 4 Mark 1 with the typical 10 shot clip.  I used to have a 5 shot clip that fit flush but it has gone missing.  Anybody know where I can pick up a 5 shot clip?  It makes the rifle more comfortable to carry (and a bit lighter).  Thanks.

koivu:  I would check with Numerich Arms, in West Hurley, NY (area code is 914), then I woud cruise the Shotgun Blues for any further indication of who might be carrying one.

I have never seen one.  We used to have to block the magazine with a block of wood to limit the mag to 5, and a 5 shot mag would have been just the ticket.  Dang, the things you miss when you're lookin' in the other direction.  HTH.  Mikey.

Mikey's right on either put a stop block inside the magazine or you could put a cross bolt thru the sides too so it won't load a full mag.  I have carried 10rd mags hunting with 5 shots in the gun and have never been stopped yet but your right if they ever see me with a hair across you know their what the will ticket me.  Maybe because its on my own land they don't bother me when they see me?  My land is not posted "NO HUNTING" and never will be since it abutts the national forest on two sides I do get an occasional hunter walk by which is good when I'm stiing there they may push something by me.  If I post my land I have to buy a hunting license so i don't post my land and I can hunt it for free.               BigBill

i made one using the instructions from www.303british.com. instead of using the original spring i used a new mauser type spring and feedplate. iput this in my parker & hale and removed the military sights. took it to the gravel pits to do some shooting. another guy came along , took a quick glance and said nice ruger. i said "uh huh" and he did a double take when i dropped out the 5 and slammed in a ten round mag and he realiezed what it really was!!

for the 303 Cal.   Clip Part # M-148A, I don't know anything about these,
has anyone tried one as I also am looking for one myself.

I didn't know that some states restrict magazine capacity on repeating rifles.  I this what we're talking about ?  I know that Maine restricts self-loading rifles to five rounds, but even a '94 holds seven!  Is it the detachable magazine?  :?

Pro Mag offers a 5-round magazine for the Enfield although I have not heard the nicest comments about their compatability.  Cabela's has them listed for $19.00.
