Cleaning my new Handi

I got a SS Handi in 223.  Do you guys use a bore guide to clean these things or not?  Sorry if this is a stupid Q, but I am relatively new to these great guns.

I don't.  I just use the thumb and index finger of the hand not pushing the rod as a guide.

Welcome to the forum! (from a relatively new guy).

Thanks.  I can fit my 223 bore guide in the chamber but it really doesn't do much.

Yeah, bore guides' main use is to prevent damage, to the chamber face,  by centering up the rod in the bore, and to prevent solvent from soaking into the wood or the bedding.

I like to take a plastic gatorade or pop bottle and slip it over the muzzle while cleaning.  This collects the used patches (if you're using a pierce jag) so they don't go all over the place.
